The Third China Rudong Coastal Economic Cooperation Fair

8 November 2009 – The Third China Rudong Coastal Economic Cooperation Fair was launched. The event was organized by China Ports & Harbours Association, China Energy Association, China Tourism Association together with the Rudong Party Committee and Rudong County Government.

On the opening ceremony at the Sun Island of Yangkou Port, China Energy Association awarded Rudong County the honour as “City of Green Energy” for its contribution in pushing forward the development of green energy in China.

A total of 134 projects, amounting at RMB62.5 billion were signed in the fair. Sectors covered included energy, chemistry, petrochemicals, metallurgy, logistics, mechanic, textile, construction and tourism etc.

 

 

Conference for the Completion of Research of Yangkou Port Development Plan was held in Beijing

8 August 2009 – Conference for “Jiangsu Coastal Development and Yangkou Port Development Plan with Completion of Research of Yankou Port Development Plan” was held at The Great Hall of The People in Beijing hosted by the Research Centre of National Development and Reform Commission together with the Rudong Party Committee and Rudong County Government today.

Topics include the upgrade of Development Plan in Jiangsu Coastal Region as national strategy and focus on Yangkou Port Development Plan and also the direction of developments have been discussed. Clear instructions and concepts for the future developments and investment promotions have been stated.

The conference was attended by Li Jinhua, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Bao Guoxin, Vice President of the CPPCC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Tang Yuan, General Director of Research Department for Industry, Transportation and Trade, Research Office of State Council and guests from domestic and international enterprises.
 

 

  

 

 

High Quality Construction Work on the Sun Island

1 June 2009 – The Sun Island, a man-made island in Yangkou Port has passed in final examination and the quality of engineering work rated as outstanding, while the safety of its structures was graded as Class 1. The results indicated successful construction of the first man-made outlying island in China.

The Sun Island, which locates on Yellow Sea is 13km apart from the nearest coastal area, is linked by the Yellow Sea Crossing. The construction works, which was huge in scale and technically complicated, was completed under radical meteorological conditions. The total area of the Island is 1.44km2, with seawall of 4,688m in length.

 

 

Joint Venture Jiangsu LNG Project

12 March 2009 – The joint venture agreement of Jiangsu LNG Project was signed in Beijing. PetroChina Company Limited, Pacific Oil & Gas Limited and Jiangsu Guoxin Investment Group Limited will join hands to construct and operate the Jiangsu LNG Terminal. The three parties hold 55%, 35% and 10% stock rights of the joint venture company respectively.

The project comprises man-made island, receiving terminal, wharf and trestle; and an undersea pipeline. The first phase of the project will cost RMB6 billion. The wharf on man-made island will have the capacity for carriers of 267,000 cubic meters, the largest in the world.

The construction of Jiangsu LNG Terminal will be performed in two phases. The first phase will build an annual processing capacity of 3.5 million tonnes and supply 4.8 billion cubic meters of LNG per year. The second phase will boost the annual processing capacity to 6.5 million tonnes and supply 8.7 billion cubic meters of LNG per year.

 

 

Reclamation of Harbour-front Industrial and Logistics Park of Yangkou Port was Commended

1 March 2009 – The reclamation solution of Yangkou Port has been granted First Prize of Engineering Consulting Excellence Award by Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Jiangsu Provincial Association of Engineering Consultants (JSAEC).

Different from the traditional reclamation method, the reclamation plan of Yangkou Port was designed base on the unique geographical context. The solution is not only cost-effective, but is also friendly to the ecosystem and the natural environment.

 

 

Construction of Wharf and Trestle of Jiangsu LNG Project Commenced

24 February 2009 – The construction of wharf and trestle of Jiangsu LNG project at Yangkou Port has kicked off as piling commenced. The wharf and trestle is a major sub-project of the Jiangsu LNG project. The 1,970m long and 13m wide trestle will connect the wharf and the Sun Island.

10 February 2009 – PYI has been granted the “Caring Company” 2008/09 logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. The “Caring Company” scheme aims at recognising enterprises that demonstrate good corporate citizenship. PYI devotes in honouring corporate social responsibility and will continue to serve the communities where it operates.
 

 

 

 

PYI Sponsors Third Study Tour of Nantong Outstanding Students

19 January 2009 – The 6-day study tour of outstanding secondary school students from Nantong to Hong Kong, organized by the Association of Hong Kong Nantong Fellows Limited (the “Association”) and sponsored exclusively by PYI, has started on 18 January.

The annual study tour has been taking place since 2007 following a 5-year collaboration agreement signed between PYI and the Association. Under the agreement, every year PYI sponsors 30 outstanding secondary school students from Nantong, selected by local educational authority, for a study tour to Hong Kong.

The tour aims at widening the horizons of the students by offering them a taste of the commercial operation of Hong Kong. Besides the headquarter of PYI, the delegation visited the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong etc. The students were received by Councilor Li Wah Ming during their visit at the Legislative Council Chamber.
 

 

 

 

Annual Cargo Throughput of Nantong Port Group Exceeded 132 Million Tonnes in 2008

1 January 2009 – Annual cargo throughput of Nantong Port Group exceeded 132 million tonnes in 2008, an increase of 9% from previous year. This was the highest throughput of Nantong Port ever recorded. 2008 marked Nantong Port’s third consecutive year with over 100 million tonnes annual cargo throughput.

According to Jiang Hai Wan Bao, grains and edible oil recorded respective increase of 59% and 38% year-on-year, and were the highest among the cargoes. Container throughput and foreign trade cargo throughput recorded new highs by reaching 440,000 TEUs and 23 million tonnes, representing over a 10% year-on-year growth.
